3rd Grade Battle of the Books

 

3rd grade students at Tuscany Heights have the opportunity to participate in a fun and challenging reading competition focused on quality children’s literature. Tuscany teachers, librarians and parents encourage third graders to read as many books as possible from a pre-selected list of 12 chapter books. Students take notes in a journal provided by Mrs. Johnson to help them remember key details from the stories.  In the spring, interested students take a written test on all 12 books. The top scoring readers in each class are selected to represent their peers in a friendly, yet fierce "Battle of the Books" competition that takes place in early May.

3rd Graders use paper Battle Journals to take notes.  If you need a new one, please see Mrs. Johnson or Mrs. Lawlis.

4th Grade Battle of the Books

4th grade students at Tuscany Heights have the opportunity to participate in a fun and challenging competition centered around quality, award-winning children's books. The students are challenged to read as many books as possible from a pre-selected list of 12 chapter books. Students are encouraged to take notes on the books to help them remember characters, settings and key events in the story.  In the spring, students will test over the titles. The top scoring students in each class will represent their class in a friendly, yet fierce, "Battle of the Books" competition that takes place in early May. The winning team from Tuscany Heights will represent our campus in the Reagan Cluster Battle of the Books.
