April is NATIONAL LIBRARY MONTH
Clash of the Titles information
The Clash of the Titles competition is a contest between teams to identify the most books from a quote or information. Quotes and information are taken from 10 books chosen by the middle school librarians.
- You must know the book title exactly as it is on the cover.
- The titles should be divided equally among you to make sure all books have been read.
Garner needs a team of 4 people.
If there is more than one team participating then we will have a campus competition to decide who will represent Garner at the District level competition.
- You will need to be passing all of your classes to participate.
- Grades and behavior are important.
This is the format the competition:
Clash-Teams will identify books by seeing and listening to passages and quotations. The team will confer with each other and have 30 seconds to write their answer on the team whiteboard. The competition will contain 2 rounds of passages/quotations from the 10 books chosen. The tie-breaker questions are in a different format. Tie-breaker questions are questions about an actual quotation. You will hear the quote read and then a question about that quote. If you answer correctly (your answer must be specific), then your team receives a point. If not, then no point is added to your score. It will continue until the tie is broken.
The Campus Clash, if we need one, will be May 1 at 3:30 in the library. The District Clash will be on May 13 at Blossom Athletic Center. Participants will need to be there by 5:30. We will have regular meetings to discuss books and practice.
Happy Reading and Good Luck!
