4th Grade Battle Books

4th grade students at Camelot Elementary and the majority of the elementary schools in NEISD have the opportunity to participate in a fun and challenging competition centered around fabulous children's books. The students are challenged to read as many books as possible from a pre-selected list of 18 chapter books, many of them are prior award-winners. Students are encouraged to take notes on the books, so that they will remember them better later in the spring when they will take a written test on all 18 books. The top scoring students in each class are selected to represent their class in a friendly, yet fierce "Battle of the Books" competition that takes place in early May. The winning team from each school then participates in a district-wide competition over the same books.
