The Wildcat Library - A Great Place To Be!

Happy February!  There is so much going on this month....here's just a few things:

  • West Avenue Book Fair
  • American Heart Month
  • Ground Hog Day
  • Abraham Lincoln's Birthday
  • Valentine's Day
  • President's Day
  • George Washington's Birthday
  • Black History Month
  • Great American Pie Month
Weekend Explorers Go to the Rodeo

This month is exciting, fun and yummy!  We have so many opportunities to learn new things about Black History Month and the wonderful men and women who have represented and honored their culture by their hard work.  We celebrate our Presidents this month and specifically the birthdays of Presidents Washington and Lincloln.  We learned some fun things about ground hogs and he saw his shadow....so we will have 6 more weeks of winter!

NEWS ABOUT OUR TEXAS BLUEBONNET VOTING!  We have enjoyed reading the Texas Bluebonnet books all year, and we finally got to pick our favorite one.  Students in 3rd, 4th or 5th grade classes who read at least 5 books were able to vote for their favorite book.  Voting at West Avenue was on Friday, Jan. 23, 2015.  Ballots were given out in the library, and so many of you voted....thank you!!  The winner (from West Avenue) was...."THE DAY THE CRAYONS QUIT"....yea!

The library has finished its inventory!  Mrs. Oslund and I would like to thank all of the teachers, staff and students who helped make a very hard and tedious....but we completed our task.

Keep checking back for more news and information...some fun things are being planned for March!

Keep Reading, Keep Learning!  Go Wildcats....Read to Succeed!
